Dr. Meis practiced dentistry for over 50 years, the last dozen years as a volunteer in Phoenix’s St Vincent DePaul Society dental clinic. He was an innovator in dentistry and a champion for the early diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease. He was teaching a Total Health philosophy twenty years before it became popular.
Dr. Meis was a natural teacher. Outside of dentistry, he was very active in religious education. In dentistry, he loved to learn with and teach his team. He supported multiple team members that went back to school to further their education, including three assistants that went to dental hygiene school.
To honor his long career and his talent as an educator, the Team Training Institute has started the Meis Foundation to support students and dental auxiliaries to further their careers.

Dr. John is a 4th generation dentist, and owes much to his father and grandfathers before him that blazed the trail. He continues his father's legacy through the Meis Foundation and hopes to inspire and fund the education of the next generation of dentists.
Wendy Briggs is a registered Dental Hygienist with more than 25 years of experience and the Co-Founder of the Team Training Institute. For more than 20 years Wendy has helped thousands of dentists take control of their practice and uncover millions of dollars of unseen/untapped revenue by serving their patients at a higher level. Production is never the goal, it’s the result of taking great care of our patients.
She has consulted with more than 4,718 dental practices in 12 countries. She is a published author who has been featured in virtually every dental publication and has lectured for and consulted with many of the top leaders is the industry.
In addition to her managerial expertise, Wendy has one of the most highly regarded hygiene and Periodontal programs in the industry. Dental Service Organizations and privately owned practices soar when they adopt her protocol.

This scholarship is awarded each year in honor of Dr. Donald J. Meis, an exceptional dentist and leader who lived his life in service of others. He was a true inspiration to the dental community, continuously volunteering his time and energy to those in need and lifting up the next generation of dentists through teaching and mentorship.
